Today, President Donald Trump’s suspension of federal funding to sanctuary cities and states goes into effect, as his administration works to address crime and fraud.
Sanctuary jurisdictions are those in which state or local governments refuse to cooperate with federal agents or honor U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers and warrants for criminal illegal aliens.
Two weeks ago, President Trump announced, “Starting February 1, we’re not making any payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens, and it breeds fraud and crime.”
